WE STRIVE TO EXPRESS THE VISION OF THE PROJECT TEAM WITH LIGHT AND SHADOW
We consider not only the quantity of light but also the quality of the luminous environment when accessing the lighting needs of a project. Initial efforts are spent distilling program requirements and understanding expectations and goals for intangibles such as appropriate mood and atmosphere, movement of light and emotional response. We then develop several schematic options for the project team to consider. Much of our initial thought is given to the interaction of light and architecture. Discussions related to surface color and reflectance, glazing properties, and visual emphasis typically precedes detailed equipment recommendations.
Some of the distinctive aspects of our process include:
- Schematic design presentations targeted to a broad audience, effectively communicating our ideas to all stakeholders.
- Rigorous prototyping so we can study and confirm design concepts for critical lighting elements and building materials.
- Extensive computer and scale modeling to help determine appropriate strategies for using daylight.
- Rigorous life-cycle costing of a proposed installation, so clients are assured of economical and sustainable solutions.
- Unmatched on-site lighting system commissioning and staff training, assuring our clients that the system works, and maintains the opening appearance for years to come.
By meeting design challenges with creative, elegant and reliable solutions, Hefferan Partnership Lighting Design has established a reputation as a dependable and collaborative team member providing services of value to the architect, exhibit designer, owner, and end-user.
